I like how they said “some humans.” When I worked forensic psych we were down the hill from the state’s pediatric psych hospital so every once in a while we’d get some lil shit who just turned 18 and doesn’t realize that the 60y/o dude chillin and playing spades in the dayroom is taking a few weeks of vacation in the psych hospital from a life sentence for multiple murder charges that isn’t gonna get any longer from putting them through the wall. “Some humans” could definitely stand to size things up a little better.

Suicidal or psychotic statements or behavior, typically with enough severity that they irritate the COs in a way they can’t just beat it out of someone. Forensic psych is exclusively people w charges or convictions, and a lifetime in the system results in people extremely good at navigating it. It’ll take the forensic psychiatrist a week or two to justify sending them back, so they’ll get a short period of slightly more comfortable accommodations. Real psychosis and suicidal ideation and behavior can occur in prison, so it takes a second to sus out the real episodes from the malingerers, especially since the real episodes often go ignored long enough for the malingerers to get a good look at what to imitate.

I always wanted to be an interesting person but one of the pitfalls is that a lot of the stuff I think and talk about day-to-day is alarming to most people and that’s had some depressing effects on my social interactions.
