Humanity’s rapacious consumption is more than Earth and its climate can handle, which is driving an ecological crisis.
Australians are the worst offenders per person due to our excessive resource use.
On the surface these look like more of the same kind of lifestyle adjustment bandaid solutions we’ve seen before, albeit generalised across geography, borders, culture, politics, government and so on through various reforms or programs.
I underdtand that while these goals look like low hanging fruit it allows Sufficiency Lab and others to talk about their ‘sufficiency’ approach and ideas.
I think the main issue I have is the lack of discussion around a drastic cut in the working week. Even with a massive shift to renewables and changes outlined by Sufficiency Lab and others unless we have a plan to dramatically reduce how many hours we are allowed or forced to extract and exploit the limited resources available then it’s all for naught.
