I am, since that’s where the people I follow mostly post. I also have Cohost, Mastodon, Tumblr, Post News and Hive accounts, of which I frequently use Cohost, Mastodon and Tumblr.

      I suppose content is king.

Twitter will eventually become unmaintainable since so many of the original devteam was laid-off. Once it becomes a “black box” that no one at the company understands anymore, Twitter will effectively stop working.

@Greenpepper. This is what happens when you cut most of the supporting work force, scrap a chunk of infrastructure, tend to not pay bills, and just toss crap at the wall to see what sticks and hopefully doesn’t break things.

When the wagner putsch was happening this weekend, I dove into Nitter to see - as Twitter is still always the fastest to spread content from whatever news ground zero pops up - and so many of the comments were just mindless or toxic drivel. God only knows how much of it is automated. Like the old saying goes, “the comments section is cancer”. I saw nothing of value in the comments. NOTHING.

I made a twitter account like 12 years ago. It was mostly to live tweet during big MMA events. It was so fun to see all the people I followed react to a big finish of a fight. Now I only use it to send a weekly picture of turtles to my grandmother in her 90s (I helped her make her account and the turtle is her spirit animal). For the few minutes I’m on there, it’s all NY Jets and republicans on my feed. What kind of fuck ass algorithm fills my screen with shit I hate? The whole site is purposely trying to stir up drama. Back in the day you would only see tweets from like minded people. Now that racist asshole in charge just wants to start fights and build the hate. Fuck him and that shit ass site.

It’s amazing how much respect I’ve lost for Big Tech in the last 2 years. All my favorite apps are nosediving and it’s been entertaining to watch.

Because when you’re either not aware of the politics or the politics haven’t soured yet, you can look up to the people who make a cool product you like. Like Reddit… or Instagram… or Google… or Apple… or Blizzard… hell I hate them all now. I can feel the anticapitalism swelling 🤣

How does that work? I mean… you buy something expensive, take it on a destructive right-wing joyride, and then what? “Buy high and sell low?”

Mastodon is a great alternative and it’s growing, just like Lemmy is for Reddit.

I’ve never been active on Twitter but for some reason, I’m actually posting and commenting on Mastodon, it just needs bigger names and communities and it will be perfect.

Twitter became a cesspool ever since Elon Musk to the reign. I keep of getting racist and NSFW tweets.

    I use Mastodon nowadays.

Part of the answer is: because they all (and more, from Facebook to kbin) exist. If there would be the one big Twitter alternative where everybody who ever wanted to leave Twitter would go to, then there would be a chance that you’ll find enough interesting accounts to follow there (and then it would become more attractive for others to go there and find enough followers, and so on). But if one goes to place A, one to place B, one to place C, then you likely won’t find the one place where everybody you wanted to follow is.
