When this song started I was so shocked. What an epic fight song for an epic fight that only took me 4 hours to beat. This game continues to amaze me.

It really is the best boss fight of game. Raphael is channeling his inner Disney villain in full.

I finally finished him solo in one round two nights ago. He was the single hardest enemy to achieve this against.

Swords Bard 7/Thief 3/Fighter 2 with this build and items. I just used the Helmet of Arcane Acuity instead of the Helmet of Grit. I coated my weapon with Purple Worm Poison and activated Phalar Aluve’s Scream prior to clicking on the gate. I also ascended my tadpole in Creche Y’llek.

I started by making one attack with an Arrow of Many Targets against Raphael positioned such that the arrow ricochets into Korrilla, this shot will need Sharpshooter turned off to increase hit rate for the Luck of the Far Realms + Surgeon’s Amulet instant Paralyze. This will also net 4-7 stacks of Arcane Acuity which will also boost the DC of your Illithid Abilities. Next I drop Perilous Stakes which with the boost from AA will have a 70-80% success rate. Now I just lay into Raphael with Sharpshooter/Ranged Slashing Flourish attacks from within 3 meters for instant Crits while reserving a single shot for Korrilla to activate the Elixir of Bloodlust. Use a Bonus Action to apply a Potion of Speed and Action Surge as needed. I actually had 3 attacks left over at the end to eliminate one of the Cambions and cleaned up the rest Round 2.

It’s not too difficult to do with some of the broken builds and items. Monk/Rogue can do it, as can GWM Sorlockadin and throwing Barb/Rogue.

Then of course there’s the goomba stomp monk but you’re gonna be there forever.

The main issue with all of the builds you’ve called out is consistency. All but Goomba Stomp have a damage cap of 450-490 without debuffing Raphael and I’ve never been able to get better than a 55% chance on Perilous Stakes with a Melee build. They just can’t build Arcane Acuity charges fast enough to overcome his save modifiers even with Shriek. All of them can 2 round no problem. It’s cramming buffing and debuffing into the first round where you run into the difficulty. I’ve tried them for the fight and watched youtube vids, and they just can’t get better than 55% for a solo one round.

While Goomba Stomp doesn’t have a damage cap what it’s most effective at is dealing psychic damage to the player. I tried it on Karlach my first run and I only lasted 1/2 a long rest before respecing.

Was certainly a good fight and good song, just wish it wasn’t such an easy fight. Honestly one of my only downsides to BG3 are that the boss fights are all rather straightforward and mostly not difficult.

    SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ACTS 2&3

Ketheric was cool, loved the multi-stage fight

Final boss has a gimmick many games use that I hate, if you’ve done this fight you know my gripe.

Orin was just a punching bag, killing the people giving her bonuses was easy with one party member while summons held her up and took the hits keeping my party safe

Gortash was so simple and easy I wonder if my game bugged, blow up the traps or throw the bombs they launch before they blow, no biggie. Beat the fuck out of him for 3-4 turns and he’s done.

Vampire dude was ok, not mad at that although the gimmick is split the party up to stand on the points while Karlach or whatever bruiser you have kicks ass.

Rafael was easy, break pillars, kick ass.

Adamantine was kinda fun, keep it in the lava by pulling its attention around, have Karlach smash it

And then there is me who sucks at this game but it’s too much fun to put down. I struggle even in Explorer mode. The stories are great though. I’ve beat the game 3 times already and going for a 4th. Each time I’ve found so much new shit it’s like a whole new game. Like with Orin, if you impress the Murder Tribunal as the Dark Urge you can fight her 1v1. My first character was a bard and I talked my way to victory on my first run which was hilarious since I didn’t know what I was doing. Thank Larian devs for Karlach because she saved my bacon so many times.

The 2nd hag fight was the one that I struggled with most. Damn insect plagues everywhere kept wearing me down while I was trying to kill the mushrooms.

I think you missed what you’re “supposed” to do in the Adamantine fight though. Lure him to the middle and smash him with the hammer. I actually used Karlach to beat him too, found out after just use the hammer.

Yea there’s an achievement for doing it without the hammer too, i didn’t even realize you could use the hammer, and after the fight I just think it’s unnecessary since it isn’t difficult without

Yeah, that’s how I found out you were “supposed” to use the hammer. But that’s what I love about this game, there’s so many ways to go about completing things.

Wait what’s the gimmick for vampire guy? I just drop a sunlight orb in the middle of the room, never talk to him, and he goes down kinda easy.

To take away the pretty decent buffs he gets you need to have your team stand on the channel circles the thrall sacrifices are near, then your characters will get a buff although not as good and the important part is pulling the buffs off of him.

I’ve also heard you can just push him off the edge to trigger him going into the coffin

I loved this fight! It was so hard! I had to use both Hope’s and Shadowhearts divine interventions for healing and just crust it out.
