    I don’t get their motivation behind this change. I mean I read the write-up they posted, but I don’t get how they could seriously think this is a better experience for users.

      Their blogpost was complete gaslight, none of the points they listed made any sense.

      It was literally just look more like a mainstream social platform, there are rumours of an IPO…

      it’s a better experience for corpos that want their brand name to be uniquely identifiable.

      I don’t find the previous system even difficult to navigate. I guess Discord is looking IPO since standard usernames are easier to digest or something…

    I thought about trying tobdo mine with the pound sign followed by the original numbers but oddly MacDougal was available still so i ran with it

      It’s based on nitro but also how old your account is. I don’t have nitro but joined in 2016 and got a message to update mine last week

    I still don’t understand why people are so mad at this.

    Before you were forced to have numbers in your name and now you get a choice, the numbers aren’t forced on you.

    Isn’t more choice better?
