No attendance was announced, surprising me. Maybe there’s a press release out by the time you’ve read this. Forget everything else, the tickets, the ratings, the streams (I wrote 73k on AAA’s stream and 280K on WWE’s stream after the main event, but I know it crossed over 300K when the unmasking was actually happening). This is a no-numbers situation. The Noches de Grande show is a success if TripleMania is part of a deal with a new media partner for AAA. Los Noches de Grande is not a success if TripleMania airs on YouTube for free.1 That’s it. It’s incredibly unfair that this show will be remembered entirely based on what happens next – my long-standing internal metric is that “any major AAA show you can walk away from in one piece is a success” – but that’s the reality of the situation. This show is either a milestone event in the history of the promotion that finally catapults AAA to the sustained US success they’ve been dreaming about for 30 years, or it goes down with Lucha Underground and a bunch of other ideas as extremely important to people but not the world-changing event they hoped for. It’s in the hands of the judges now.

as of This afternoon the show is up to 1.7 Million views in English and nearly half-million in Spanish
