Can I interest you in everything all of the time?

A little bit of everything all of the time

Apathy’s a tragedy and boredom is a crime

Anything and everything all of the time

Thankfully there’s enough content on Lemmy now that I was able to unsub from the most of the left panel type subs, no doom in my scroll thanks

Same. I just don’t get enjoyment out of constant outrage. Our brains aren’t built to be exposed to that 24/7, and I don’t think it’s healthy.

I agree with the brain part. But I’m also glad there are a lot of people and communities here discussing things other platforms shy away from, or outright shun. Hard pills to swallow those topics are, but nevertheless makes me feel more sane seeing there are people not gobbling up any mainstream rhetoric all the time.

I’m realizing that Steve Huffman ruining reddit has a major silver lining for me, in that I’m on social media considerably less and as a result there’s been a lot less doom in my life- and it’s been great :) thanks spez! JK, still fuck you spez

The problem arises when a cartoonist takes on something serious. It puts those two compartments together and rips out your heart, like First Dog on the Moon did today.

The joke is how vile things have become so normalized that we’re able to compartmentalize them so we can try to enjoy something more normal.

I found it funny. It’s a good commentary on how messed up social media is. You can go from cute animal pictures to rage-inducing headlines in the flick of a scroll wheel, and it captures that dichotomy in far less words than it took me to write this.
