Found this at home in England. I moved to England from Hong Kong not long ago, so I’m not familiar with local spiders at all. Maybe it’s very common?
Looks like a giant house spider, Eratigena atrica.
They’re completely harmless, the males do wander around looking for female, so it’s not unusual to see them during the day.
On a side note, they’re fast as all hell, fastest spider on land, so they can make you freak out when they zoom across a room at full speed.

it is very common and harmless
When I was living in the UK (moved from the Czech Republic) I was shocked how big the spiders get. I believe it’s cause of the humidity. It was common to see spiders like this in the size of my hand. They are harmless, but it took me some getting used to. Later on we “befriended” some of them and kept trowing them flies. I miss Matylda. 😅
Fun fact: Spiders in a house normally mean it is basically a dry building. They also get rid of more unpleasent insects. If you feel you must be shot of a spider, please just put it outside.
Have just released it outside. Wished it live happily ever after.
