I feel like in past few years the number of easily searched factual questions I see posted to forums has exploded. Questions like, how do I make pancakes? What is the tallest mountain? Can chickens fly?

It really seems like a ton of people have lost the ability (or never had it) to find answers for themselves.

They must have changed from when I bought it 7 years ago.

If you are comparing on hardware you are missing the point. It comes with support and a free number they can call if something goes wrong. I don’t live in the same country as FIL so its was 100% worth it to make him happy with his computer.

Asking the real questions

maybe you are different. maybe you tie that lanyard to your belt loop.

If you ask me, unserious people like that deserve no response at all.

I always think of Tech Debt as the work you should do but aren’t doing, usually by management choice.

Stuff like, “we really should refactor this to make it easy to work on” and “we should really clean out the obnoxious deps that we pull in but don’t really need here” and “we really should clean up this function that appears is 6 different places in 2 different versions” and so on.

Essentially anything that would make maintenance and enhancement easier but that you aren’t given the time to do and it just piles up.

I’ve gone back and forth. I’m doing well sticking to 2 rules. No more than 2 normal caffeinated drinks per day and never after 2pm.

Edit: and I drink 2-3 cups of decaff coffee per day but there is no limit on that.

Put it on the top rack of your dishwasher and run a cycle with no soap. Then leave the keyboard upside down on a towel for 24 hours. I did that after my friend spilled a milkshake on my keyboard. Came out good as new.

When you add /24 you are exporting to the entire subnet. A single host export looks like this

/srv/nfsv4 192.168.0.10(ro,sync,secure,root_squash,subtree_check,fsid=0)

Just leave off the subnet mask.
