You are right. We are not meant to consume the way we do. It isn’t sustainable. As an American I can confirm this culture promotes getting rid of things the moment they break without trying to repair them or even just when they feel old.

It sickens me. I use things until they break and then I open them up and see if I can fix them, and you’d be surprised how often you can.

Anyone that knows humans knows this was going to be the outcome.

You can’t get humans to work together unanimously to solve existential problems until the existential problem is at everyone’s doorstep affecting them personally. And that method doesn’t really work when it comes to climate change.

Dark Knight was the best and I think that’s a pretty common opinion. It wasn’t just Ledger’s performance. That installment went for a more “real” angle than the other two. It was much more grounded. The pacing was also really good. I saw all 3 in theaters and Dark Knight was the only one that got applause from the audience at the end, which is something I’ve only seen happen a few times in theaters.

I have a 20 year old coworker I constantly ask probing questions about what it’s like never having not had the internet. It’s so weird.

I mean crushing boredom isn’t a thing anymore because of it, which is cool and I can acknowledge that. But there’s also something very dystopian about it and clearly it’s having pretty serious negative effects on society, politics in particular. So yeah…not really sure how to feel about it.

I just went camping and put the goddamn thing in a bag for 4 days and forgot about it. Friends and I only brought the internet up once during the trip to joke that we hoped when we got back into reception we’d find out he had died. It’s funny cuz I don’t even need to say who.

I mean the proof is in the pudding.

We can all see how the conservative “pull yourself up by your boostraps trickle down” ideology is (isn’t) working for the majority of our society, including the vast majority of conservatives.

I’m not some tree hugging ultra-lib. But the bottom line is capitalism simply isn’t sustainable. It causes rampant pollution and an ever-widening wealth gap between the haves and have nots. We haven’t even been utilizing capitalism that long in the big picture and it’s already absolutely catastrophic for our environment. It’s just not sustainable. It needs to be HEAVILY regulated if it keeps existing at all. And one thing I know for absolute certain is you get the opposite of regulation when you hire conservatives/regressives.

I don’t know much about Canadian provinces, but I’d be willing to bet there’s a lot of cousin fuckers 'round those parts.

If conservatives/regressives weren’t blaming other people for their problems, they wouldn’t be conservatives anymore.
