Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•caregivers within your family, are you being paid?
2·21 hours agoNever been monetarily compensated, doing it for 20 + years, but also not doing it completely alone and had recieved other things in exchange.
Circumstances arised when we just had to help, and not really had a say in it. Then well, life just started to fit around it.

Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes@lemmy.zip•[Discussion] Which Soulslike will you be playing this weekend and what's an "unknown" Soulslike content creator you enjoy?
3·23 hours agoI hadn’t seen those, (haven’t played DS2 either) but both were pretty charming! :)
Got any anatomy or physiology questions?
I don’t have specific qurstions but I love cool anatomy facts! Anything in this area would be cool for me
The fabulous view in concerts makes up for it, though. Or at least it did before everyone decided that pulling up their phone for two hours was acceptable. ¬_¬
D: He got sent to the dark place.

HistoryArtifacts@piefed.social•One of the Fayum mummy portraits, Roman Egypt, 1st-3rd century AD
1·1 day agoThis is what wikipedia has on the matter
According to Susan Walker, C.A.T.scans reveal a correspondence of age and sex between mummy and image. She concludes that the age distribution reflects the low life expectancy at the time.
It was often believed that the wax portraits were completed during the life of the individual and displayed in their home, a custom that belonged to the traditions of Greek art, this view is no longer widely held given the evidence suggested by the C.A.T. scans of the Fayum mummies, as well as Roman census returns.
But also idk how big the sample of that study was, I believe a lot of the portraits were de attached from the corresponding mummy. Might require more diggin’.

10·1 day agoMy take away from all the Fayum portraits I’ve seen is that the people were all hot and died pretty young.

5·2 days agoOof, I’m not familiar with any small channels but I enjoy a lot people that do fan animation and parodies. The amount of dedication and love that goes into those videos, damn!
These are not small channels, If y’all are like me, (adults with videogame brain rot) you probably know them as well, But in case someone does not I’ll share some.
Matthew Shezmen ( animated parodies of elden ring/ dark souls /sekiro and others) some even feature lenght. Has a SoTE one coming soon.

(Starbomb- kiss the elden ring)
I’ll check internet pitstop out, thanks!
Very cool, you will get there! I think of nails like some small canvases that we carry around, so why not go crazy? ;P
I know, sometimes life gets in the way of even these “small rituals”.
And I like your description, very poetic! :)
Those magnetic ones are super cool! And gradients are rad, I should do them more. It’s kinda hard working with such small canvases right? But plain color and cool effects are also awesome.
And thank you! For the pattern I free handed some organic, chunky lines, with the brush from the bottle, nothing fancy. ˙ ᴗ ˙ usually prefer free hand because I make a mess with stencils and stamps, I’m an absolute beginner as well.
Sometimes I draw something more geometric with a toothpick, but thats the extent of my techniques. Heh
(The ring depicts the mask of the mexica god of rain, thunder and lightning, Tláloc. One of my faves)

The Grind & Bind Art Alchemist's Guild@lemmy.today•Weekly Discussion: What art form are you terrible at?English
4·2 days agoI suck at doing full color rendering, painting landscapes and elaborate scenes. I’m best when working in grayscale and quick sketching.
I tend to get bored finishing involved pieces because I enjoy the foundational part of the process the most, so I get the “accomplished” feeling early and then struggle with the rest, or abandon the project all together…I lack stamina.
Probably because of my all consuming need for instant gratification. (๑_๑//)
Oh, Hi
MarkRadahn!
It was like that at the beginning for me too. What worked for me was letting them grow very little, and mantain that lenght for a while. Then letting then grow a bit more, and so on. Used several layers of polish, clear or with color to help them “structurally.”
