Maybe they should legally compel all computer hardware and appliance manufacturers to have fully open source firmware, so all products can be security audited, flashed with FOSS code, and true ownership returned to the buyer, so all products can be used indefinitely without any internet connection, with FOSS apps, or a local or remotely self-hosted controller at the users discretion?

Maybe we could take actions that genuinely reduce anti-competitive walled gardens, ewaste, and vulnerabilities… while increasing freedom, competition, and quality of life?

AI does not need to achieve super intelligence to be dangerous. Embedding any model into a robot designed to kill is extremely risky, especially if the robot has the dexterity to replicate itself.

Imagine Terminator as not being self-aware or intelligent, but instead as a misaligned model that is trained by the military industrial complex to kill humans as efficiently as possible, which rapidly determines nuclear bombardment to be the most efficient way to kill humans (based on its training data) upon integration with an army of drones and killbots. They’re already building and testing these types of AI-dependent autonomous killing machines and weapons systems.
