Not really unless you have a particular sensitivity to the specific food colorings used. Compared to recent recalls this is pretty minor as it’s essentially just a mistake on the label rather than any kind of contaminate. I.E. had the labels correctly included the yellow food coloring used this would be perfectly fine to sell and there would be no recall.

Yup, this is a golden opportunity for China. There’s a few hurdles left, but if they can clear them we could see this as the start of China absolutely dominating the memory market and these greedy morons are handing it to them on a silver plater.

More like its corpse will be reanimated in an attempt to scam people using nostalgia. Wouldn’t be the first time this trick has been pulled, remember when LimeWire got resurrected to shill a scam cryptocoin?

Determinism is one of the greatest properties of a computer and should be the gold standard of any program. Guess what LLMs fundamentally can’t do?

And thus the stage is set for the first mass casualty event caused by AI.

So it was an unplanned rapid oxidation event then was it?

That’s a slightly different issue from what this study was about. Specifically this was looking at grammatical structure that’s unique to legal documents rather than specific vocabulary choices (I.E. jargon). Legal documents tend to have both, a unique hard to understand structure, as well as using words that are both uncommon as well as have unique definitions in the legal context that are different from their common ones.
I suspect jargon is a problem no matter what, every specialized field suffers from that to a certain extent, but the unique grammatical structure is a problem that’s really only seen in legal documents. The explanation for why that’s the case seems to be potentially a historical accident and basically boils down to “because that makes it sound legal”, despite literally everybody saying they prefer legal documents written in a normal style.

Doesn’t do jack to Firefox on Android.

Setting aside how blatantly illegal this is, this seems like it would hurt Republicans more than Democrats? A lot of immigrants live in southern states that are historically Republican strongholds. If you exclude non-citizens it seems like Republican states have a lot more to lose from this than Democrat states do. Is this going to play out like a lot of recent Republican gerrymandering attempts where they think they’re pulling a fast one but end up hurting themselves instead?

Does anyone still consider Fetterman a Democrat at this point? He’s consistently supported and voted with Republicans for years now. He may have run as a Democrat, but policy wise he’s 100% a Republican.

It’s Trump promsing to pay something. If you believe he’s actually going to pay anyone you’ve not been paying attention to literally anything Trump has done in the last like 40 years. Trump IOUs might as well be toilet papsr, at least that way they’d be useful for something.

The problem would be driving the display. Typically you need some kind of dedicated display driver IC which is likely baked into the control IC on these devices. It’s most likely not worth the time to try to figure out one without the other. The good news is someone linked a really cool hackaday article above where somebody worked out the control protocol on at least one model and demonstrated pushing pretty arbitrary content to the display.

Yes, but actually no. They almost certainly use cheap glob top ICs for their firmware and I’d be surprised if they can be reflashed at all. You might be able to figure out how to push your own updates to them but you’ll likely be restricted to displaying a limited format. It’s really going to depend on the specific model though and how open ended the manufacturer made them.

LG owns an advertising company. Just like Google tracks everything you do on the internet via their analytics and search products and then feeds you targeted ads, LG tracks everything you watch, all the electronics in your house, and any conversations you have nearby, then feeds you ads through their TVs.
Just like google is an advertising company first and everything else second it’s probably a good idea to think of LG as an advertising company that happens to have a consumer electronics company bolted on. Their TVs are nothing but trojan horses these days, designed to spy on everything they can and get ads in front of your face.

Papermono Lite looks interesting. Really good price point. The only things I’m seeing I wish it had are physical face buttons and bluetooth support (for a page turn remote). Aside from that it looks like it has everything I could want, or is at least as good as the X4 Pro.

For what it’s worth I’m considering getting the X4 Pro for myself. I do like that they added a backlight even if it comes at the cost of the USB-C port, and even with the extra cost it’s still cheaper than something like a Kobo (although also significantly less capable). For something quick and easy you can chuck in a pocket or a bag and make part of your EDC in a way that a Kobo or Kindle is too large and pricey for it sits in an interesting niche.

So I bought one of these for my wife a couple months ago and she loves it. She likes that the eink screen is easier on her eyes and that it removes the temptation to open up social media and doom scroll. I do however have a few gripes about the X3.
First, the biggest issue for me is the device isn’t backlit. For my usage pattern that’s a deal breaker. The upside is that the company just released the X4 Pro and that is backlit, although it’s also a bit pricier (not by a ton, it’s still just barely sub-$100, but it’s noticeable). My wife has a rechargeable light that attaches to the X3 magnetically which she’s happy with, but that’s not for me.
Second rather than using something sensible like USB-C it uses a semi-proprietary magnetic charger with pogo pins. Not only is that another annoying cord to keep track of, but it’s unacceptably easy to short the charging cable and start a fire. I really hope they see reason and release a later revision of the device that uses USB-C (the slightly larger X4 does include USB-C charging, but that model is discontinued).
Third the buttons are kind of hard to press at times. This is more of a nitpick but I’ve got larger hands/fingers and it ruins the ergonomics of the device for me.
Fourth, these devices have an incredibly small quantity of RAM and as such they have to get clever just to open and display ebooks. They heavily cache indexes to the SD card to speed up access and those indexes take time to generate. When you first open a book and periodically while navigating you’ll be subjected to very long pauses while the firmware generates and saves that books index files.
Overall the devices are interesting, and I can see how some people could find them useful/enjoyable, but they’re also far from perfect and there’s a lot of room to improve.

People don’t choose Teams, it’s forced on them by executives that rather save a little licensing money rather than have an effective communication tool. The entire MS stack is basically kept alive by convincing corporations to shove it down the throats of their employees. The only people I ever hear say anything nice about MS products are system admins that like the centralized way you can lock down and micromanage Windows instances.
He benefits because it shores up control of Congress. He’s worried about the midterms because of how disastrous the gas price climb has been for Republican support. I know they’re desperate to shore up their flagging numbers because I got a cold call the other day from a bot trying to convince me that Iran was a massive danger to the US and that if we hadn’t invaded now it would have lead to a massive attack in the future and strongly implied that would have involved Iran nuking the US. It was blatant propaganda couched as a public opinion survey but their bias wasn’t even subtle.
They’re in full blown panic because not even Republican voters are supporting this war at this point. Trump needs gas prices to come down ASAP before they bleed even more votes.
