  • I use LTO for my 70TB of data. My rig is done on the cheap. I got an LTO 5 drive external off ebay for around 500. SAS card and a really old cheap HP desktop for about 50. Works perfectly, I have done a full system restore from backups and the tapes are cheap. Have had this system working for 5 years now.

In the future i plan to upgrade to LTO 7 when the drives become cheaper, but I have found it to be very reliable, great for making my backups and just so cool and fun to use.

  • I am using Sailfish OS which has surprised me with its reliability, good ux and ability to do most things.

It is in a weird state, most of the OS is open source, but a few parts a proprietary. However when I was looking for the best Linux alternative to Android it seemed the best option. It seems rock solid, it has a lot of native apps and for the things that aren’t native I can just install android apps straight from the Aurora store and they work as fast as if they were native.

I had the same trouble when looking for a NAS case that did not cost a fortune.I ended up buying a Gemini nas case from Ali Express.

Other than waiting a couple of weeks for it to arrive the price was around $140 USD and it is actually a really good case and mine holds 8 drives.
