Wild hornets
@wilendhornets
❗️Heavy steel frames, cheap Chinese components, but all according to Soviet GOST standards. This is what russians use to manufacture FPV drones.
Ukrainian military from the Taystra unit have handed over trophy russian kamikaze drones to the #WildHornets project. Let’s take a brief look at them 🕵️♀️
The first thing that catches the eye is the heavy steel frames, handcrafted in russia.
The second noteworthy aspect is the mass production. All trophy drones have serial numbers and quality soldering of contacts. This indicates that they are produced on assembly lines at factories.
At the same time, the drones are made with cheap and low-quality Chinese components, bearing names of brands from the Celestial Empire that easily wear off.
The drones are adorned with a sticker of the Soviet GOST standard.
Conclusion: russian FPV drones are heavy and of poor quality. However, there is bad news: occupiers have established mass production of kamikaze drones from cheap Chinese parts.
Our fighters report that such drones are delivered by trucks.

As someone who has built drones with cheap components and frames made from anythineverything from pencils and zip ties to stapled rulers to spot welded sheet metal, it really doesn’t take much to make a quick and dirty A-B drone that doesn’t need to survive long term, or even the rest of the day.
However, I would expect a formal military to be a little more high tech than some random person in a messy garage ordering parts on ebay…
