That reminds me of the situation in Flint, MI where this doctor was trying to respond to / explain about this child who had received permanent brain damage, yes I mean losing IQ points, from drinking the tainted water. He said basically “what would she need those for anyway?” Translation: “Lolz, black people don’t needz no IQ. Sux to be u.” i.e., he said the quiet part out loud.

This bill is similarly “honest” - the purpose for some kids, in the minds of some people, is either work or sex (or both). Make of that what you will.

God damn some doctors make me absolutely fucking sick. Blood curdling anger. What the absolute fuck is wrong with you and why did you even go into this field in the first place.

And if you say money I’m gonna punch you in the dick because there are easier jobs with better pay out there, if you want money be a finance bro, fuck.

A sense of power over people? Respect? I remember that movie Patch Adams showing different kinds of doctors, which did a good job imho of illustrating that dichotomy.

That is not nearly as true today as the past - for one bc of crippling medical school debt, and for another malpractice insurance, bc everything involves lawyers these days. So they become mere cogs in a machine, like every other working joe - gone are the days where every Thursday is a golfing day, now their bosses have them clock in 9:5. And like if their hospital or doctor working group buys a new machine, suddenly everyone that comes through the door “needs” to be tested by it, even if that requires jabbing needles into people and drawing blood. In the USA the ethical implications of daily life as a doctor in a capitalist society that uses medical insurance are… no bueno.

Also there’s huge inequality in pay between like “doctors” aka general practitioners vs. specialists like X-ray technicians. So the ones we are most likely to encounter face to face are those who are most run-down, overworked, and stressed out. And in this case, probably those least capable of doing anything else that they want with their life, other than memorize and regurgitate lots and lots of medicinal facts, which already since that time you could basically replace with a computer.

So given the effort you have to put in to become and remain a doctor, no the final take-home pay is not really worth it, to many people anymore.

Side-note: for anyone who isn’t a billionaire and will NEED doctors in the future, we are so fucked by what these factors are doing to the USA right now.:-(

No no no no, you misunderstood. You see a BLACK person, especially a GIRL has no need for it - one rule for thee, an entirely different one for MEEEEEE… (bloody screams).

Do you want to know the truly sick, absolutely gut-wrenching, mortifying, horrifying thought behind it all? I will put it in spoiler tags just in case.

        spoiler

He’s right. In that state, in that area, what potential did that little girl have, to do any better than her surroundings would allow her? To be clear he’s not right - what the fuck is wrong with you to agree with that so readily?:-P But… nevertheless there is something to what he said, after all. He shared the perspective that from his worldview, her intelligence was not all that tragic a loss, b/c what could she have done with that anyway? THAT is the thought that made me sick to my soul… and I will never recover. Hopefully anyway.
