If it’s important, there’s a time crunch, or it’s needed right now then it’s another story, but we can read each other’s mood fairly well and know when this joke isn’t appropriate.
That said, if I was wandering around a block for 10 minutes trying to find the place for the first date, I probably wouldn’t find it funny, and would just feel like I’m being made fun of.
It would really depend on how the conversations have gone up to that point.
