Why can’t I expand images and videos beyond this arbitrary border?

I don’t use imgur for posting pictures on Lemmy like I used to on Reddit. Am I supposed to?
I like using Imgur because it offloads the bandwidth to them rather than making instances host it.
Is there a better way? I’m new here.
