Every Canadian I’ve ever met doesn’t like to be called American. Don’t know about the other countries, but I’d assume it’s the same.

If everyone on two continents is an American, then how are people from the one country literally called America supposed to differentiate themselves?

Am I wrong in saying it’s not literally called America? I thought it was called United States

Right, so it’s not literally America. United States of America is the country, while just the word America represents all the countries in the Americas

There’s also the Republic of Ireland, the Republic of Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United Republic of Tanzania, the People’s Republic of China, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Republic of Latvia, the Principality of Monaco, the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Republic of Peru, the Republic of Paraguay, the Republic of Ecuador and a whole ton of other countries who are called by the last word in their official names because that is HOW ENGLISH WORKS.

And if you really gave a damn about all the people in Latin America, you’d call them by the proper names of their countries.

But if you insist I’m wrong, go over to lemmy.ca and post a thread telling them they’re American. See what they think.

I’m quite happy not placing myself in the same American bucket, not sure why anyone would say that.

If the eisle number was 9/11 it would have been perfect

    • I went into a Kohls a few months back and wound up walking into the big and tall section. Either they were going through reorganizing or it was all sweatpants. No jeans, no slacks, nothing. Basically if you had a 45+" waist you were only allowed to wear sweatpants. I realized at that moment that shopping for clothes has to be really hard if you are bigger. I didn’t even see shorts.

Where’s the steak? I can’t shop here if I have to search the entire god damn store for one god damn thing

  • I recognize the colors and shape of wal-mart signage. Our most shameful store. The labels are shopped but you can for sure get all that stuff there.
