I have not encountered that news source before, but it appears to be a leftist anti-Christian news source. I find the article difficult to take seriously when they cite the SLPC in the first paragraph as if they’re even slightly credible. The one dude was excommunicated by the Orthodox, and now needs to travel all the way to Romania just for communion. This article is a farce meant to discredit the Orhodox, and to discredit Christians in general.
The Orthodox church is a kind, welcoming church of ancient and apostolic origin. It also has clear beliefs and, in my experience, makes an effort to hold it’s clergy accountable for deviations from the teachings of Christ and the apostles. Clergy get suspended/deposed for far more pedestrian infractions. There is no home for such people in the church. I encourage you to attend a parish and judge for yourself. As the user above mentioned as well, the person in question was excommunicated.

The SPL is established by Christians. In my experience the only people who speak ill of it are racists.
