    This has been mentioned frequently, but the problem is that it basically requires that moderators pay Reddit for the right to provide necessary free labor. That would have been better PR for Reddit because Reddit has succeeded (intentionally or not) in convincing the average redditor that moderators are the bad guys, but there still would have been a bunch of moderators quitting over this.
