Not sure where to turn on this one - google won’t help. Not sure if it is a common issue in Japan or not. Been in my current place in Tokyo for 14 months. For the first ten my address worked perfectly on google maps. But suddenly about 4 months ago Google decided to “correct” all searches for my address to another address on the street behind me.

I will use a fake address to explain: type in Bananamachi 5-6 and the correct Ku and post code. Hit enter. Then the only search result is Bananamachi 5-5, which is on a different street. This is what happens for navigation on google as well. Type in my address and google starts navigating you to a different address on the next street.

Guess where some of my deliveries and all of my first time house guests are going??? It reached the ridiculous on Saturday when the aircon service guy and my son’s new tutor met each other outside the other building a street away. They actually spoke to each other in the confusion trying to find the place.

I have tried the google maps correction method but they say its resolved.

Anyone else had this problem and find a way to fix it? Its not like you can opt out of google, you are stuck no matter what. We can’t exactly keep ordering food and standing outside someone elses house to intercept it!
