Is this a joke? Why would this be posted and locked. Why would this even be considered? Reddit doesn’t even do something so absurd. Why would we accept factual information to be locked behind paywalls while conspiracies and nonsense is freely available? Are we going to start posting infowars articles or some other nonsense since now actual news articles won’t be accessible for people to read? This is some extremely corporate bs that no one asked for and has never even been done on any website

The LW admins have requested that communities remove any posts that include the entire article or archive links to articles.
A short summary is allowed, but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. This includes links to sites that rehost copyrighted articles for paywall sites.
If your post is removed for a rule 1 violation you can edit the post and let the moderators know the copyrighted material has been removed.

that doesn’t happen to any social media why would it happen to tiny lemmy.world? Also lemmy.world isn’t hosting any of the “copyrighted” material if its an archive link. They can go bark at the Internet Archive if they have a problem. Which they won’t because that’d be ridiculous.
