Mastercard has not evaluated any game or required restrictions of any activity on game creator sites and platforms, contrary to media reports and allegations.
Our payment network follows standards based on the rule of law. Put simply, we allow all lawful purchases on our network. At the same time, we require merchants to have appropriate controls to ensure Mastercard cards cannot be used for unlawful purchases, including illegal adult content.

I’d think the brand damage is much worse to cut sellers off. The risk of thinking “Mastercard isn’t accepted where I want to spend” is way more of a threat than “I can buy smut games with it?”
It’s 2025 and Discover still has to run ads to convince people it’s broadly accepted. Do they want to end up with the same baggage?
their brand is damaged in my eyes…why trust a payment processing thing like MasterCard of visa when they can dictate what can or can’t be sold. I’d never trust em
I’d agree. Not being universal will make people look for alternative payment mechanisms.
Just have a policy of “if it’s legal, you can use MasterCard”.
I just don’t understand why MasterCard is so obviously lying. Nobody, absolutely nobody, is fooled by this. It’s so obvious from their statement.
So what I’m hearing is there is no justification for the delisting and this should be over by now. Just relist the games.
The idiots who pushed for the bans can crawl out into daylight if they want it so bad.
