When I was in high school, someone said to my crush at the time “You and (me) would make a nice couple” (We were in the same friend group). And then, in front of me she just said “Ew, disgusting”.
I wasn’t the same after that.
My own life example is a “no”, but the timing was what made it terrible.
She said “no” BEFORE I asked (I was hyping myself up on a public manner). Shattered me.
Thats almost nice, im sure she can say much worse things :)

The worst she can say is “911 this guy is harassing me.”
