Most chocolate, especially European chocolate is still harvested in impoverished African countries by poor farmers who can barely afford a living by selling their cocoa plants which are often harvested by child labor and even slave labor.

The child laborers don’t even know what they are harvesting and have never tasted refined chocolate or chocolate candy in their lives.

Every time you eat a chocolate bar, you are eating a luxury that poor farmers who grew the original crop can not afford. You are eating a snack you don’t need and eat for your pleasure that barely keeps the farmer who grew the cocoa barely alive.
