I think instead of going completely dark it may be beneficial to lock down the subreddit with a sticky linking to related communities inside the federation to help people find a new home

    Would not go well, dedicated mods that have experience , have a tough enough time, given all the pitfalls…

    Throw some randos in and it will be interesting to watch how well they do, and for how long.
