    It’s a Marvel spin-off with no superheroes.

Sort of true. Legion is actually based on the comics and even in the TV series it is revealed that he is Charles Xavier’s son. Also, a big part of the reason that the show is so wild is that you are dealing with a main character who is either a schizophrenic, or a telepathic/telekinetic mutant with reality warping powers, or worst of all both.

I cannot recommend this show enough. I am so tired of shows that lead you around by the nose and explain everything in detail, sometimes over and over. Legion dumps you in the story, apparently in the mind of a madman, and leaves you to figure out what’s going on for yourself. The show guides you, it doesn’t lead you around on a leash. It is a refreshing experience.

Also, Aubrey Plaza and Jemaine Clement are simply amazing in this show. Eight stars out of five in my book.

I had some issues with the almost nonsensical decision-making of the end of Season 2. But, I can forgive some of it because of the sheer amount of risk-taking on display to show well-crafted mini-stories within the main plot. And they had the balls to really end the series with a proper finale.

Some parts were messy. Some parts were loosely-connected with bad logic. But, it was still one of the most creative series I’ve ever seen.

The show is really good even if you’re not into superheroes it plays more like a surreal psychological thriller, but if you are the 80s/90s legion comics have some really cool art, along with new mutants, gen 13, etc.

I’ve only seen Legion and season 1 of Westworld from this list but they were both great.

I’ve heard Westworld falters after that but season 1 is good anyways.

Stick to Westworld season 1. It is a complete story. The rest of the seasons feel like a completely different show and aren’t very good.

I’ve watched all of Westworld and I would agree that it falters in later seasons. I really loved the first season and enjoyed the second too. I found the later seasons a bit disappointing.

The third season had a lot of good concepts, and the overarching theme was fitting.

The last season was just off the rails.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I’ve heard of the series. I’ll probably check it all out eventually, not really any particular reason why I haven’t seen more just kind of happened that way.

The Leftovers is so good, it’s one of the only TV shows that’s really moved me deeply, it’s just so emotionally gritty, but not sappy (mostly), and so well acted all around. The ending is a bit abrupt, I never really looked into whether it was supposed to run for more seasons, but I found it perfect anyways so it never bothered me too much.

I’m glad The Prisoner still makes these kinds of lists because the show was absolutely genius, but also like… I’m a little perplexed that it’s still making these lists because it was just so bad. Surrealist post-kafka allegorical scifi primarily focused on the differences between english and soviet countercultureal ideology and it’s relationship to the individual really doesn’t seem like it would resonate with the modern viewing audience.

    Maybe that’s just me though.

I’m assuming this is a list of all completed shows but I want to recommend Severance - the best show I’ve seen in like a decade.

Monkey Dust getting a shout out 2 decades later was an unexpected surprise.

I still regularly think about that and Nathan Barley as standouts that haven’t got the love they probably deserve as contorted absurdist reflections of what life felt like back then

BBC Three and E4 were on a run of absolute gold in the early to mid 00s. I think they were still on the “we get more freedom on digital” vibe that a lot of the new channels had back then.

Several good shows on that list. Wishing some of them were able to get more seasons and finish up those wacky story lines. 🫤

Some I’ve never heard of and should look up!

    BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The OA!!

There was nothing baffling about that stupid shit other than how the five actors did the interpretive dance scene with a straight face.
