I’m actually a human being that decided to buy this phone with real money about 6 months after it came out.
I got it on the resale market for maybe four or 500 bucks. it was right when LG Mobile announced that it was closing and I wanted to grab the last phone they ever made.
a couple tidbits of advice:
- LG didn’t really market it, but it has pretty decent stylus support if you buy Wacom 2nd gen bamboo ink. it has a full pen suite and Bluetooth shortcuts with the buttons. Although the bottom screen doesn’t have a digitizer. I think the LG Velvet and the LG v60 also work with the stylus, and those actually worked with both screens.
2). it’s hard to find good cases but casemate was a reliable one and they are still available from 5 to $15 on Amazon. there are also some that have a little loop in the back to help you hold on to it. from finau.
I probably wouldn’t even bother with a screen protector.
- there is a desktop mode. LG supports video output in two ways, the first you can just mirror your screen, but it has the option of changing the aspect ratio to 20x9 so it works quite well on ultra wide monitors.
or screen plus which is a very primitive version of their desktop mode. not nearly as fully Dex but it works both wired and wirelessly. So consider grabbing a USBC hub and experimenting with it.

watch out for the bottom speaker … A weakness of this phone is definitely that it only has one speaker and that you can accidentally cover it up with your hand.

use the softwing app
some developer made an awesome app for this phone for free which lets you do lots of things like customized the noise it makes when it’s swivels. there are some options to do this in the basic settings, but this lets you customize it to any song you want or any noise you want.
It also helps you customize controllers on the bottom screen for gaming.
- Don’t be afraid to use third party launchers
Nova launcher works great on the LG wing. technically it only works on the top screen, but it pivots to landscape mode every time you swivel. you can customize gestures which can help you with one-handed usage (The stock LG app also has a one-handed mode). interestingly enough, you can actually run Nova launcher on the top and Niagara on the bottom concurrently.
- not trolling
When I voted for this phone for Linus to use I’m definitely was not trolling him . Yes, I thought it would be amusing to have him use such a quirky phone, but I also thought the phone never got its due credit since just a few months after it was released. LG Mobile announced its looming closure.
And the fact that LG made good with their promise to get this thing 3 years of updates was a pleasant surprise . The surface duo 2 cost twice as much and only got one OS update. The LG Wing got Android 10, 11, 12 and 13.
And try to remember : ultimately, this is basically an LG Velvet that swivels. you guys did a paid advertisement for that phone so it can’t be that bad. .
- have fun
When Mr. Mobile reviewed this phone he headlined his video " phones are fun again."
It could be the epitaph of the LG Wing. And the LG mobile division more broadly.
