I don’t usually post gifs, so I have no idea if this is even going to work.

Aww, is it treating it like a video? I can never get gifs right.

Giving this a couple more minutes of tinkering before I give up and delete.

I can’t either, I have a bunch just waiting to be used when it gets sorted out.

I might try uploading elsewhere and linking.

edit: that might have worked? I used catbox, but it’s really slow to load.

Catbox seems to be working for a .gif! Now to get mp4s working…

I convert from mp4 to gif with ezgif.com, it also lets you resize, compress, remove nth frames to get the file size very small.

Now I upload to gifyu.com since you dont need an account, just upload and you can directly link to a .gif file unlike giphy (which has a vertical height limit)

I use Mlem for my lemmy surfing. And the only way for the gif to be animated is if I click on the image to view it in the image viewer. Then it animates. Just food for thought.

Well that’s better than nothing. It’s so weird, because gifs in the comments seem to work fine, but not as the post.

It’s the same issue for posts as well, at least for me. I have to click on the image in a post to see the animated version. But yes it’s much better now than before.
