Delinquent manga is an interesting genre and one of my favorites, there can sometimes be really funny works, like Angel desnsetsu or Kyou kara Ore wa!! , on the other hand there are some that are really good for the fighting Holyland

There are also a similar genre in manwha, although their stories tend to be a lot less romanticized and more about bullying and close ties to adult gangs.

So what are some delinquents manga/manwha you personally like?

Wow I was just reading transfer student 2 days ago (the original of course) it was an extremely good misunderstanding comedy like angel densetsu but this time the protagonist is actually a wimp incapable of fighting. Also, what an ending arc it has!

GTO is definitely one of the greatest, didn’t enjoy the actual delinquent prequel as much although it had a few entertaining storylines.

I don’t consider Holyland a classic delinquent manga. It’s more fighting/martial arts than deliquent. GTO is kind of the same, where the focus isn’t with the delinquent lifestyle. I enjoyed both of those immensely, but I didn’t enjoy most pure delinquent mangas (only exception is GTO prequel). Part of it is the style. I typically dislike mangas that are gritty and rough.

I prefer the live action TV series, but the Sukeban Deka series is great. It’s about a high school girl who works as an undercover agent for a branch of the police that investigates crimes that take place at schools that regular cops aren’t allowed to investigate. Unfortunately, very little of the franchise has been officially released in a English. ADV released the OVA in the 90’s. The 2000’s movie reboot got a release too, but that was the worst version IMO.

Yankee-kun to Hakujou Gaaru is one of my favorites. It’s by no means a complex story, but it’s sweet, and it appears to portray blindness pretty accurately.
