I’ve gotten a lot of really good recommendations from this community (thank you!) so I think that it’s time that I give back.

This is a 2005 movie with Bruce Campbell that I thought was from the late 80s or early 90s. That’s really all you need to know but I’ll paste the wikipedia description below :

Man with the Screaming Brain is a 2005 science fiction/slapstick film co-written, produced, and directed by Bruce Campbell, who also stars. It is Campbell’s feature film directorial debut. The film was co-written by David Goodman and co-stars Ted Raimi.

The film centers on William Cole, a wealthy American executive who travels to Bulgaria with his wife, only for their marriage and lives to unravel after she begins an affair with their taxi driver, Yegor. A violent encounter with a vengeful maid leaves William and Yegor dead, but William is revived through a brain transplant that forces him to share his body with Yegor’s consciousness.

    This is a really fun one! I have a personal story attached to this movie. In April of 2005 Bruce came to Philadelphia to do a signing of his book ‘Make Love the Bruce Campbell way’ and had a screening of the ‘The Man with the Screaming Brain’. The guy was super friendly and took time to have a small chat and photo with each person in line. When it came time for the screening he introduced it and told everyone he sadly had another engagement and had to leave but he hoped we all enjoyed the film. I was sitting in the second to the last row close to one of the theaters doors with my dad and about 20 minutes into the film the door slowly opened and in snuck Bruce. He sat right behind me and motioned for all of us all to shh with a wink and finished watching the movie with all of us. I guess he wanted to get a genuine reaction and he looked really happy that all the jokes were hitting. Honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve had. My signed VHS of Army of Darkness still has a place of pride on my shelf.

    I’ve seen a lot of Bruce Campbell movies, but I haven’t seen this one yet. I also haven’t watched Maniac cop 1, 2, or 3, but they are in my watch list.

      Maniac Cop is an astoundingly well-written and well-acted thriller. It punches well above its weight class. I have not tried the sequels yet.
