Hullo folks, how’s it gawin this week? Wha’s got onyhin tae share? Tis the place fer it!
Hard day at work, it happens. Not Scott but I’ll be in your country in little less than 10 days. 🤟
I hope you enjoy your visit!
Nice, what’s your itinerary?
London -> Edimbourg -> Inverness -> Glasgow
That’s a busy week. Make sure you get to Leaky’s in Inverness, the Park Bar in Glasgow, and the National Museum in Edinburgh
Taking notes. Thank you. I’ve tried Toothing Charles Stross for good spots in Edinburgh but so far no luck 😅
I’m a native, what kind of vibe are you wanting?
To see things. Will be celebrating a Birthday in Edinburgh so a good restaurant and Pub
Spoiled for choice in Edinburgh then. The Cambridge Bar followed by The Oxford Bar my simple first suggestion for you.
Wee catch up over ice cream with work pals tonight! Nothing on this weekend so might do my ironing!! Exciting times!!
Salted caramel? Tablet? Film on the telly?
No, I have a donut stack! 2 donuts with ferror rocher ice cream between and chocolate sauce all over!! Delicious and well deserved!! I’ll put a film or some housewives on while I’m ironing!!
Off to Edinburgh to learn some Gaelic songs at the RSE tomorrow. Going to treat myself to some Ethiopian food afterwards, can’t get that in my area unless I make it myself
You’ll have to let me know what the Etheopian place is like then. Last time I had some was in London, a curry seved on a massive pabcake that you ate with your hands! Felt very cultural shock to me
And Brochan Lom is about as much as I can sing in Gaidhlig, so best of luck there!
Ahh, the flatbread is injera! It’s basically sourdough bread made from a grain called teff. I’ve made it myself a few times, I’m a big fan. I did indeed tear bits off and use them to scoop up the other stuff today. The Edinburgh one is Muna’s on Gillespie Place. It’s a little chaotic, but the food is lovely and the prices aren’t bad. If you fancy an alcoholic drink, the tej is good and it’s not something you’re likely to get elsewhere. It’s a herbed mead, sweet but not overwhelmingly so and faintly fizzy. Last time I was there I wound up chatting to Muna about it a bit; she makes it herself
The singing went alright, considering how much my brain fights me about singing in front of people! My lackluster Gàidhlig was enough to get me through the pronunciation a bit more smoothly than most there, which helped
Been oot wi kid dad folk the nicht. Found an italian tae tak tae the rugby next 6n - should be fun!
Squash the morn, Currie vs Heriots the aifternoon. So double sports fer me. Nerd tae cut the grass tae fer it’s last shavr ah reckun.
Then Sunday a roast, ah funcy beef. Wi roasties, an puddings, an honey carrots, an peas. Actually sounds amazin
Your sunday roast sounds fab! I can never get the meat nice and soft.
Have you ever tried using a slow cooker? Sear the outsides the morning of, then just leave it gently cooking in some stock and herbs all day. I stopped eating meat quite some time ago, but I used to set the slow cooker going in the morning so that it’d be ready for me when I got home from work. It’s not quite the same experience as a roast, but it is a lovely one and it’s dead easy
Yeah I use my slow cooker for pork and lamb shoulder to make pulled meat for bao buns or nachos but not much else beyond that! Will maybe give this a try, thanks!!
