I don’t know why but this website randomly just got a lot faster and more responsive. This whole day I’ve been having issues where I would comment, reply to one, and try to post but it would just spin.

But, for no reason right now it feels so much fast and better

Yup. Lemmy version 0.17.4 was merged, tagged and shipped. It has a major performance improvement in the backend (the database specifically).

Look in the footer of the page:

    • BE: 0.17.4 denotes the backend version
    • UI: is missing in the footer but was updated to the same release.

For anyone who wants to see the 0.17.4 specific changes compared to the previous version, 0.17.3:

I noticed it too! The admin of lemmy.world said they were investigating the very slow posting and that it was likely a database issue, so they probably just solved it! Thanks Ruud :)

they did release an update, it also could be we have hit a stable point and servers are more synced. I have been getting A LOT of updates today, my server, being new was likely leeching for the first day, i expect a of new instances were.

    now we are contributing. ___

even if it doesn’t get better in the coming days, i have hope that it will get better steadily over time. the fact that recent events have given the concept of federation more publicity is a step in the right direction. when the social media giants inevitably screw over their users again in the future, more people will know where to look for better alternatives.
