Fulham have reached an agreement with Ajax to to sign defender Calvin Bassey for a fee in the region of €21m.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday the west London club had made an initial offer in writing of around £15million ($19.3m) for Bassey.

But the clubs have now settled on an increased sum plus a sell-on fee.

The deal remains subject to personal terms being agreed.

    Bassey doesn’t want to go to England apparently.

    I don’t understand why clubs put in bids for players without, seemingly, ever contacting their agent to see if they’re interested.

      Dutch media seems pretty convinced he’ll go. He grew up in London and can make more money there. Not saying those are the only reasons (he’ll probably also struggle to become a starter at Ajax) but I kinda doubt he’ll stay in Amsterdam and think he’ll sign for Fulham soon.
