It seems like the nodes I find using wishbone are small and underwater. Are they even worth it?

No it’s not worth cuz you can only mine so deep in the swamp until it fills with water

I’ve never treated wishbone as more than a novelty in the swamp, so I have no sense about how widespread iron nodes are. Should try that next playthrough.

I have to use the wishbone, I don’t know how anyone couldn’t. I only get handful of crypts per swamp and iron doesn’t go very far in crafting. Aka I need every piece of scrap iron I can get my hands on in any way I can. I’m creating things pretty far past iron and it all still needs some iron it seems like.

    I’m probably doing things wrong.

The swamps that have the Bomemass altar usually (but not always) have a lot of crypts. On a new run, I’ll usually try to find a crypt that’s right on the waterline somewhere so I can get in and out with a little less risk and hope it has a location stone for the boss. Once I find the boss location, I’ll make a longship out of my first crypt iron and hopefully a shield and head to the boss marker and see if I’ve got a good collection of crypts to work with. Finding the boss marker can be trouble sometimes, so I also keep an eye out for it up in the ruined towers as I’m sailing and mapping swamp coast line.

Not really. You can mine them if you want, but imo it’s not really worth it. Exceptions for us that swamp is right by your base and you need a couple more iron. That said we all know a couple more iron becomes stacks of needed iron.
