Problem is they even with paying the third party app gets an inferior experience (no polls, nothing marked NSFW).

This won’t work out. Reddit is hostile to any third party app and will screw this dev over hard at any and every chance.

To the dev: Bail while you can dude.

Yea, I think this app developer is misreading what Reddit is really trying to accomplish . They weren’t trying to monetize third party apps, they were just trying to get rid of them.

I’m in love with Lemmy. It feels like Reddit did when Reddit was fun and you weren’t a speck in the crowd. Same for Mastodon and the early days of Twitter.

Currently weighing whether or not I want to pay for a lifetime subscription to the app I’m using on iOS. These guys can still find ways to make money, but I think relying solely on Reddit and trusting them not to further jack up the prices is a risky move.

Same, it feels like most of the people on Lemmy are just here because they’re interested in the topics for each of the communities they subscribe to.

I paid for Bean on iOS, it really feels like the Apollo of Lemmy. The developer is also super responsive and is constantly putting out fast updates.

Relay for Reddit Pro was my client of choice. Paying a subscription fee to a third party just seems ridiculous. I would have instead loved to have Relemmy by DBrady.

It is so sad no one ever mention infinity. Such a good app. And no one gives a shit
