I think a couple of things can be true at the same time. Long term, high speed rail is a good thing. Also true is this project will definitely be vastly over budget. I would just like to see some concrete data to let us know the planners have actually looked at the factors.
Huge decrease in mail delivery over the last 5 years. Number of pieces of mail delivered to homes has gone from 372 in 2006 to 131 in 2024 (Canada Post data).

In those cases, the market decides. Just look at Target, The Bay, Eatons etc. With all of those failures, the taxpayer wasn’t on the hook for any of it.

Considering Canada Post is billions in debt partly because Canadians no longer care or use the service needs to be addressed. Is it an essential service if no one cares?

With current estimates at 23%-29% of Albertans supporting separatism, what do you think the most appropriate response would be? That’s a lot of people to just ignore. Would there be any value in understanding the major drivers for supporting separatism, and addressing those where it makes sense?
