For RPGs, Disco Elysium is fantastic, but I would pirate it like the devs asked. Morrowind, Fallout 1 and 2, Underrail, and Elden Ring are other great buys. Crosscode is another banger.

As for roguelikes, check out Caves of Qud, Path of Achra, and Project Zomboid. Dwarf Fortress is great too, but it’s more city sim, same as Kenshi and Rimworld.

My favorite genre is probably RPG, haha, but I have been woefully missing out on horror bangers and am making up for lost time.

Bethesda has always fumbled the ball on the leftist slant, Capitalism exists where it likely shouldn’t yet and in general mocks the Cold War propaganda yet plays most Communist characters as though the propaganda is true, actually.

The series was always generally leftist, but it never really crossed the threshold into being a full Disco Elysium or anything. However, in the hands of Bethesda, it’s just a playground.

As for personal pickups, got MGR and Pizza Tower. I also bought Fear and Hunger 1 and 2, I am sus of them but a Survival Horror JRPG sounds too interesting to overlook at their prices. Grabbed Tunic as well, Crow Country, and Hylics 2. Also grabbed Faith: The Unholy Trinity and Crosscode with New Home for easier Steam Deck use.
