I’m interested in your opinion about the term enshittification. It’s a Doctrowism and even though it’s a little imprecise, frequently misused/understood, a little childish, and it isn’t my first choice, it’s the term that took off. Do you know a better phrase? Not trying to put you on the spot. You always have good takes.

I consider myself lucky that my body started outright rejecting alcohol around 25. Prior to that I was drinking about 3 liters of liquor a month. Half a beer triggers a multiple day migraine now. It’s the perfect excuse to not drink as well, so if you’re getting pressured feel free to use it.

As with many things there’s a spectrum from intentional malice to not being paid to care to not even considering it.

I think especially in laptops not having that feature is really missed by even a lot of “normal people” and the necessary hardware would cost what, a couple dollars max?

I think the fact that other methods (WiFi direct, Bluetooth file sharing, etc) are so poorly or slowly supported, when the “how do I get this file to you?” question is so common, is evidence enough to suggest that there have been a number of conversations following this form at various companies.
“Let’s support WiFi direct”.

Also it’s the highest form of bullshit that I can’t just plug two computers into each other with a USB C and transfer a file at like 10 gb/s.

In fact I have a conspiracy theory that they intentionally make sharing a file directly between two devices with no 3rd parties difficult so they can control and surveil what is shared more easily.

They (the people being recommended to) are just coming to linux and don’t think about computers being so adaptable. They want a first impression that is already superior to windows or they will dismiss it as just a toy for nerds. Zorin holds your hand a bit with several themes and ready to use layouts it specifically introduces you to.

The first movie fell flat primarily, as every dune fan will tell you, because it stopped before anything actually happened. Also, as any dune fan will tell you, it’s kind of not movie-able in a way, because being stoic and playing your cards close to your chest is the way all the dialogue is. Like 2/3rds of the book is internal monologue though which explains the actual depth of what’s being said and done from the perspective of everyone in the scene. Again I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said a million times before.

What’s in your chili? A pressure cooker has been a game changer for me. I usually make mine a little on the watery side and then throw in a handful of soy curls or TVP. It’s so low effort at this point it feels like cheating.
