  • You also arnt buying games when you pay for them on steam…

Both steam and gog are drm free.

Both have the EXACT same licences for their drm free games.

Gog even has their galaxy API wall just the same as valve as the steam works one locking you to an account.

    And both are optional.

Steam DRM and GOG DRM are also optional so if it exists it’s developer choice. Cause GOG does actually sell games with fucking drm and have for years. They arnt ONLY drm free they stopped being 100% strict about that a while ago.

Literally they are identical. Really the only difference is you need steam client or steam cmd to down load a game both require a steam login. Or you go to gog website or their client both of which require a gog login…

    It’s the same shit.

Steam just also has triple A games with third party drm too that isn’t optional. Which makes up like 1% of the games on steam at this point.

  • All steam games are drm free by default. They literally have been since day 1. Even the half life games are drm free… Literally always have been.

I’m getting real fucking tired of people not understanding the fuck steam drm actually is.

It’s optional and ENTIRELY up to the dev to use.

Steam games come bundled with a SINGLE dll that hooks into steam for the overlay, cloud storage and other steam features. But this dll is NOT required and can safely be deleted. Steam ALSO supported turned the dll off via a single txt file.

Both cause the game to be simply launched from its normal exe and they never have a check in.

I have over 300 games iv bought from steam that sit on a hard drive and can be launched with out steam ever having been installed on a computer.

Steam first and foremost is just a patcher and download manager. If you don’t need to update your game then you can just slap it in a. Thumb drive and take it with you.

The only reason you NEED steam actively running. Is for steam functions, such as online play for some games that use steam servers and not there own. Games that optionally have chosen to enable the drm function. Or to update your game.

    That’s it.

  • God this was my brother, by 14 he was 6’1 at one point his growing pains where so bad that a doctor gave him fucking pain killers. And the good shit at that.

Not to mention the sheer glut of food he could eat. I was a highly active runner and still growing my self and God damn he could eat circles around me.

We would have lost the house if food costs what it does now back then. My poor mother.

  • Its a form of short hand in text stylization to emphasize words.

Think of it as when someone quickly bites off a word to drive a point.

Much like have someone would CAPITALIZE a word to over emphasize something as if raising one’s voice.

Or italicize or put to help over enunciate a word as if to speak it slowly and with pressure on every syllable.

Short hand verbal text communication is literally the body language of text communication. Hell it’s become so common place that many modern fiction novels now use it.

And just like any other language there’s even dialectics to it. So while it can be somewhat confusing to wander into a different community online and see different symbols and formats being used they are almost instantly understandable if you understand whats happening.

  • No… Not intrinsicly. Epic is about as anti consumer as you can get. And they are even more anti developer then steam is.

They just ass fuck devs via unreal engine and eac along with poaching games for extremely fucked exclusively deals. So the epic store it self looks “better” because they can abuse it as a loss leader and basically not invest into it at all.

Epic store isn’t real competition. It’s a competitor only so far in that it’s a digital store. But its like comparing Walmart to bestbuy.

If epic had its way everything would be worse then it so it can be on top. Not because it’s better but cause it’s made everything around it worse so it looks better by comparison.

It’s the entire reason the joke valve does nothing and wins. Because they don’t give a single fuck what other stores do and just focus on themselves and make sure they arnt abused for the services they offer.

So the worse thing you can say about valve is they have some restrictions on devs that prevent them from abusing services to the point it degrades the consumers experience.

Other then that it’s just industry standard stuff that sucks, mostly because outside of only steam no other store actually justifies the costs and downsides of digital distribution.
