  • It’s decent. A lot of the things that have been fixed or improved have been done over the last couple of seasons and so are part of the base game.

Blizzard really shot themselves in the foot by releasing the game the way they did. So many ppl played it at launch and have formed a (deserved) bad impression of the game and now it’s really hard to win those ppl back no matter how much they improve the game.

I made the decision to completely avoid the game at launch as I thought it would be a disaster. I only decided to give it a go when it came to gamepass and I’m glad that I waited as I think those early days would have seriously put me off the game.

  • I’m having a great time too. I was apprehensive before the release as I was worried all the changes might make the game too difficult for me but that hasn’t been the case at all… part of that may be the spiritborn being so strong though!

Weirdly I’ve found the opposite to you in that I think I’ve levelled up faster this season than usual but I think that’s just because I’ve gotten better and more used to the game, I only really started playing in season 4. I didn’t start playing the new season until Wednesday and I’ve only played evenings after work and I’ve made my way to torment 3 already.

Haven’t tried the citadel yet, thought I’d wait until I have a really decent build together first.

Then you end up with a whole map where you can only go one or two places to be challenged. Huge areas that are completely pointless and offer no reward, instead just having to go and do the same area over and over again. How boring.

The feeling of getting stronger comes from the gear you find and working out ways that you can get the powers they have to synergise with each other.

I’d much rather have it this way. As an example, I played starfield a while ago and even though it has dozens and dozens of star systems you are stuck with just 3 or 4 that offer even the slightest challenge at the later levels.

Edit: That’s not to say that levelled areas don’t work in other games of course. I love to play Valheim and that has levelled biomes but it’s a completely different game. It’s a journey with a start and end (end still not done though). It’s meant to be beaten, finished. Diablo isn’t like that, it’s a perpetual game. Elden ring is another example but again is a game that’s meant to be beaten.

  • Seems it might actually be good. I haven’t watched this video but I did watch some of raxxanterax streaming yesterday and he seemed very pleased.

I should point out that I’ve never actually played this game. I played quite a lot of Diablo 3 and I thought I’d wait a while before trying Diablo 4 as I was sure it would have problems at launch and wasn’t willing to spend £70-100 on a game that had the potential to be a complete mess.

Well, seems like they may have actually sorted things out now and seeing as it has just come to gamepass I’ll be giving it a play when season 4 starts.

I am kind of left wondering what the point of Diablo 4 is though. ‘The pit’ is the new end-game content and it seems to be an almost direct copy of greater rifts from Diablo 3, even down to the obelisk asset and animation.

Like I said though, I haven’t played the game yet, so what do I know??!!!
