Fire code dictates that doors should swing outwards, but I’ve come across single stall gas station bathrooms that swing inwards.

Barricade them in, but be aware that they’ll probably start shooting through the door.

Just to put my 2 cents on the plate, it seems like a lot of people are stuck in living arrangements they don’t actually want to be in, purely for economic reasons. Lots of personality mismatch in close quarters, work is an escape. UBI would probably break apart lots of lives, but hopefully people will build back better.
In respect to being paid to work on hobbies, a lot of the tech sector was furloughed as well. FOSS projects massively improved, seemingly overnight. I’ve dabbled with Linux on and off during the 2010s, 2021 felt like the year where everything finally clicked together, now I run Linux and FOSS on everything where possible. I’m not sure how to find data to dispute or support that link tho, might just be me.

Trying to recall the purpose of the clock from memory, it’s supposed to be an estimate of how far away are we from thermonuclear annihilation. Specifically, how tense international politics are, how physically far apart the world’s militaries are from conflict, how long it would take for chain-of-command to actually launch nukes. Are we one bad phone call from launching? 00:00:00 would mean the rockets are armed and in the air, no turning back.

Industry has grown around this type of sabatoge. Now specific people are in charge of preventing these problems, and will be removed swiftly if everything they touch disintigrates.
Thanks for translating, I could only read “pole up ass.”
I’ve never liked how the pyramid is arranged, as if the ones on top are living the ‘right’ way, or are ‘better’ somehow.
It should be the other way around, with 8 billion people hanging to a ledge, trying to improve the state of the world, while roughly 6.5k are throwing a tantrum, desperately clinging to the ankles of the masses, threatening to drag everything into the void if they can’t get their way.

Think this one was another drop, pretty sure I’ve seen it floating around already.

How else would we double tap our neighbors outside our own territory?

Would appear to be so…
One to break, one to fix, one to use.

JESUS WAS AN ALIEN, AND WE STAPLED HIM TO A TREE.
NOW THEY AIN’T GON COME BACK.
I can vouche for the monitor arm, feels like I have more room without the stand.

When you start using your capitol to sway local governments in your favor

If we guesstimate middle class by comparable lifestyle when the term was coined, it starts around 250k in today money. Comfortable house, lots of kids, multiple cars (but not luxury), at least one real traveling vacation every year, never worrying about paying bills or buying food, all while saving enough to retire by 55. There aren’t many people in the US with the income to match that. I’d say the middle class is dead.
Gonna start naming my contacts by military operations instead of nicknames
“Hmm… I’m good with statistics, scripting, and I have some extra cash on hand…”
“I can just mix all these into the cauldron, stir it up a lil bit, aaand…”
“oh my god it’s gone. it’s all gone. i owe money now…”

That $20,000 looks awful cheap next to $20 mil. Someone, somewhere, is kicking themselves for not paying for triplicate redundancy.

It’s got something to do with max fund preallocation / preauthorization. This is normal for gas stations, supposedly it keeps card thieves from armada fueling and leaving the station holding a grand of irrecoverable debt. Some banks won’t show these background transactions, some only show one dollar, some show the full amount. The exact specifics you’re shown vary between banks and stations, but it is normal and happens all the time.

Never heard of Cory Doctorow until a few weeks ago, now it seems like I come across another piece of his works every day, and every time it is spot on. I need to start following him more closely.
That question doesn’t seem to matter these days…
