You should not justify animals rights not to be slaughtered by their connection to humans.

Pigs are deeply empathic, horses read humans very well, and whales have complex family systems. The division “cute animals” and “edible ones” is just a cultural construct to avoid the moral atrocity.

That’s not the right question to ask.

You are asking for validation for resenting your father. That won’t achieve much except making you feel more disgusted at him.

Learn from his mistakes, and be honest with your own. That will achieve more than anger and resentment.

Your father does not seem in great shape either. From what you described he lost fortune, friends and family. If you call him a looser he will just loose his temper, and you won’t have a father anymore. Your conversations should not involve name-calling, set boundaries there without escalating the conflict.

It’s a story about the miserable life and death of young sensitive beings. Either you downvoted because you think that’s a good thing in the US, either out of cognitive dissonance as you wouldn’t feel well accepting @🦄🦄🦄 has a point.

I do really think downvoters should set aside their feelings, coldly consider the situation, and if you still think the comment was harmful, yeah, downvote. Please don’t shun others because they have different practices, we are better than that.
