Ich gehe davon aus dass die Fritzbox auf deren Kosten getauscht wurde, weil das vor Ablauf der Herstellergarantie war. Wäre das Teil 3 Wochen später kaputt gegangen, gehe ich davon aus dass 1&1 nicht so kulant gewesen wäre. Da hätte ich mir dann entweder selbst eine neue Frritzbox kaufen, oder aber ein Mietgerät von 1&1 beziehen müssen.

Alles nicht in deiner Gegend, aber:
Ich war 9 Jahre lang (2013 - 2022) bei 1&1, und hatte in dem Zeitraum genau eine Störung: Kurz vor Ablauf der ersten 2 Jahre ist meine Fritzbox kaputt gegangen - die wurde nach einem 5 Minütigen Telefonat mit deren Service-Hotline auf deren Kosten ausgetauscht. Das hat dann auf dem Postweg 3 Tage gedauert.

Nach 9 Jahren (und einem zwischenzeitlichen Umzug hatte ich dann aber genug von der langsamen Leitung - 1&1 konnte mir nicht mehr als DSL 16.000 anbieten. Nur die Telekom konnte mir schnelleres Internet anbieten, indem sie Glasfaser in die Wohnung legen (Im Keller war das Wohnhaus wohl schon seit fast 15 Jahren vorbereitet). Seit knapp einem Jahr bin ich wieder bei 1&1, nachdem die Telekom die Glasfaser in die Wohnung gelegt hat, konnte mir 1&1 auch Glasfaser anbieten.

Das ist nicht nur günstiger im Grundpreis pro Monat, ich habe von 1&1 auch eine neue Fritzbox mit Glasfaseranschluss geschenkt bekommen (nachdem ich deren Austauschgerät von 2015 knapp 10 Jahre in Betrieb hatte).

Seitdem läuft alles wunderbar, gefühlt hatte ich bei der Telekom die 3 Jahre mit deren Glasfaseranschluss Bandbreitenprobleme mit Youtube, aber das kann natürlich auch an der alten Fritzbox gelegen haben.

Just today I tried switching from Calibre on my Desktop to calibre-web-automated. But after about an hour of fiddling and searching, I went back to calibre on my PC.

I couldn’t get KOreader on my kindle to simply sync books that I add to my library to my ereader wirelessly.

The best I could manage is use KOreader to subscribe to CWAs OPDS feed, but that doesn’t automatically add new books, I would have to manually go to the OPDS feed and download the books. And apparently, kosync is only able to sync reading progress.

With Calibre on. My desktop, I simply start the program on my PC, enable WiFi in Koreader and new books get automatically downloaded.

Steam’s policy is to, if a gamedev company gets a better offer in another store that doesn’t add the 30% markup that Steam adds to the price of games and shares that with their customers by selling their games cheaper in the other store, Steam will take their games down from the Steam store.

Does anyone have a source on that? I couldn’t find that clause in their docs, all I could find that is in this: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys

You should use Steam Keys to sell your game on other stores in a similar way to how you sell your game on Steam. It is important that you don’t give Steam customers a worse deal than Steam Key purchasers. (…) It’s OK to run a discount for Steam Keys on different stores at different times as long as you plan to give a comparable offer to Steam customers within a reasonable amount of time.

To me, that reads that this is only about selling steam copies of the game on other storefronts (like humblebundle for example), developers are free to sell non-steam copies of the game on other storefronts (like GOG or epic) for cheaper.

I’ve just checked their steamworks partner documentation. This only applies to steam keys.

That, imho, is quite reasonable, because Valve provides these keys to the developer free of charge, i.e. the developer does not have to pay 30% commission on these keys.

Developers are free to sell their games on other storefronts (like Epic or GOG) for a lower price than they do on steam, permanently. Or at least, I was not able to find such a clause in their docs, the only clause that talks about something like a price parity I could find on the keys page, i.e. selling steam copies of the game on other storefronts.
