Well they haven’t managed to pass it yet, but not like your politicians aren’t trying:

and I believe they are also unionized? Or just have more labour protections.
Well first off there are two Aldis in Germany, Aldi Süd (south, I think this is the one active in America and Austria) and Aldi Nord (north). Since they are different companies, they will have differences in how they treat labour organisations.
Genrally speaking they will both of course oppose them though, as companies are wont to do. For example two month ago Aldi Nord fired a member of the works council (something like a union rep, but independently elected by all employees), which is a rather… uncommon occurrence due to their legal protections. Their lawyer is optimistic.
The companies are unionised to a degree, for example the aforementioned work council had 4/19 members coming from Ver.di, a cross-occupational union for service workers of all kinds. It’s not uncommon for big employers like the Aldis to have several unions active among their staff, but all employees being union members is also rare.
Overall though it’s probably mostly the labour protections by law that you are seeing at work here. For example the possibility to create these work councils, which can have quite a lot of influence on company policy, is mandated by law. You have to announce a company wide meeting and then the quorum to elect a representative at that meeting is three(!) people, no matter the company size.
Oh damn. I meant their website, but I didn’t notice they just embed a Twitch stream on their website, thought it was a self-hosted stream. Never mind me.
Well that website links to livestream.eff.org, and that page says the stream will be “simulcast”, i.e. mirrored, to Twitch and Youtube. So the main channel is indeed free.

She does hit the left side of her head against that bench when she falls around second 16, and holds it with her hand when she gets back up.

Well I think it’s her drink. She later grabs the bottle from among her stuff on the table, where it would be placed had she poured the glass with her likely dominant right hand. Conjecture obviously, but her grabbing the bottle later also kind of shows she thinks of it as hers. And why else would she grab at the glass?
Also as you can see in the screenshot in the post body this is her rejecting him after their second date, so that is another indicator for a retaliatory motive on his part. Which would also explain the absolutely reckless level of violence he employs, literally kicking her when down and slamming her head into that bench at the end.

“War is gonna be over in two weeks”
“We’ll be home before Christmas”
Can a lemmy post be directly mastodon
Kind off no and yes. Server side there is no federation AFAIK, but some frontends/apps can show and post to both networks. Kbin and forks for example.
Well no actually, at least according to the guy himself (added note and emphasis):
Now I do not always do things just as the others want them done. I consider what the others probably believe, and then do the opposite on principle. So if Mr. Stalin expected that we would attack in the center [Moscow], I did not want to attack in the center, not only because Mr. Stalin probably believed I would, but because I didn’t care about it any more at all. But I wanted to come to the Volga, to a definite place, to a definite city. It accidentally bears the name of Stalin himself, but do not think that I went after it on that account.
Indeed, it could have an altogether different name. But only because it is an important point, that is, there 30 million tons of traffic can be cut off, including about 9 million of oil shipments. There all the wheat pours in from those enormous territories of the Ukraine, of the Kuban territory, then to be transported to the North. There the manganese ore was forwarded. A gigantic terminal was there; I wanted to take it.
Now you can of course question if the narrative given in a propaganda speech is accurate, but I have never really seen sources for Hitler wanting to attack because of the name. So it kind of seems like a persistent urban legend to me.

Europe didn’t really “ditch Windows” though or did it. You see news of some places switching to Linux or planning to switch
Yes, that is correct. The nature of the EU itself and many of its members individually is rather decentralised, so you will see it happen bit by bit. But there is an increase in national governments interest in doing this over the last decade or so, and them doing it will make it easier for businesses and state/regional governments to follow. A keyword to look up is “Digital sovereignty”, that’s what they usually call it.

Well it’s not so much an island as a vast area with a lot of plastics of various sizes and two convergence points roughly before Japan and California with currents transporting material between them in a loop around Hawaii.
![]()
I think the islands in the bottom is New Zealand, so the small islands top left is probably Hawaii and California/Mexico barely visible at the top. That would mean that nearly a quarter of the top left rim until behind the horizon (Japan) is where the Great Pacific Garbage Patch roughly is.

Won’t work because the rainfall won’t only happen where the glaciers were, so you would need several dams all the way up and down the rivers.
Leopold Aschenbrenner […] just blew up his $45 billion hedge fund
Nomen est omen strikes again (Aschenbrenner can colloquially be translated as “money burner”).

Well the script tag has a deprecated attribute called language, so in older code and media you will see <script language="javascript"> a bunch. The weird thing is they instead used the lang attribute which just doesn’t exist.

All other countries could have ignored Hungary and do whatever they wanted since they are souvereign countries. There was no need to act as the EU.
If you completely ignore the fact that Hungary was blocking the release of EU funds, and those don’t just magically reappear in your national budget if the EU doesn’t use them…
Well the vote passed 82/13 with 15 abstentions. Khan has been removed.
But I think the analysis in the OP is wrong on the last point, as per DW:
All active ICC warrants will remain in place despite Khan’s dismissal, because only ICC judges have the authority to withdraw warrants.
The play might rather be that a new prosecutor will just not do their job or do it badly if any arrest is ever made. And also preventing Khan from issuing new warrants obviously.
