  • One thing that has helped me is using addy.io for creating aliases for any service/website that I sign up for.

It has made it incredibly easy to switch email services without having to update each and every website I have an account with.

For example, recently I didn’t like the name of the email account I had on proton. So, I created a new account, went to Addy.io, changed the setting for where all my emails get directed to by default, updated the PGP key for encryption and at that point all future emails were being routed to the new email address. I could have just as easily switched over to a different provider.

Proton gets some bonus points because they have a tool that will allow you to export all of your emails as well as reimporting them into another account.

  • Star Citizen is built from a heavily modified CryEngine/Lumberyard engine. The hooks for VR were left in there, and players were able to find a workaround to get VR working. However, a few months ago, Star Citizen had to force EAC due to some cheaters wreaking havoc in the servers. This also put a stop to the VR workaround.

They had previously quietly allowed users to bypass EAC in order for Linux players and VR users to play. They were able to flip the switch in EAC to allow Linux users to play, but VR users were left out.

A dev spent some time fixing up the game engine to work with VR again as well as OpenXR to support the latest devices. So, now Star Citizen natively supports VR without any workarounds needed.

  • For Sim Copter, my favorite was making a city in Sim City, then there was a way to place a military jet that would become a military chopper (usable missiles and all) in Sim Copter. I think either the first or last tile placed of this would become a military chopper.

I also remember practicing landing a helicopter if the fuel ever ran out (pitch forward, then pitch back at the right time to force the rotors to spin up and slow your descent just right to be able to land softly).

Then there was always driving around your own city and just destroying everything in Streets of Sim City.

  • Additional context from his pinned comment to that video:

I’ve been away from internet all day and it sounds like I got my hands on a couple of bootleg/counterfeit sets here! That’s neat. Love that. I’m going to leave this video up as it is because the overall lesson here remains mostly the same - but I am embarrassed this thought never occurred to me, especially with The Good Place Blu-rays. I honestly thought a Blu-ray release of that show would be niche enough that a run of pressed discs wouldn’t be justified and didn’t question it. I’ve not been paying attention to physical media for nearly a decade so I’ve missed some memos and made one too many assumptions!
