  • True deregulation would result in a form of psuedoregulation eventually.

Companies would abuse people and behave unethically. Workers would get angry. Eventually workers would organize and employers would have to follow worker demands to be able to continue operations.

  • Not a popular opinion, especially in the Dune topic. I did not like the first movie and don’t have high hopes for the second.

Characters are too pretty. I understand they have to be clean (for the movie) but Arrakis is supposed to be harsh.

It leaves big parts of the book out, even contradicts the book for the rule of drama. Kynes quote about not being able to survive two hours without a stillsuit (not in the books, examples include Kynes) means Arrakis is physically toxic, putting stillsuits on par with spacesuits. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=edJKKUsdVNY

Overall I give the movie a C-. Watchable but not worth paying money for.

Hopefully the next one is better. But I wouldn’t count on it or pay to see it.

the people have* power over everything that happens in that state, law, economics, religion, war, everything.

Misinformation. Socialism does not require people to get involved in each other’s religious activities.

Do you believe you should have a say over what I do or do not believe?

    If you do, I disagree.

Your words support the criminalization of abortion on religious grounds.

Letting government into people’s religious practices is asking for a lot of trouble, and I have a feeling that you’d be just as bothered by it as me.
