  • Have you tried increasing the size of your swap memory in windows? Otherwise known as “virtual memory”. Depending on the speed of your drive and available space, you might be able to increase the vertual memory size to get more performance.

But what about using a page archiving service, even a self-hosted one, like Shiori. Shiori has an extension that can allow for single click page archiving right from the browser. The pages are saved as html files or txt files and it will create a readability version of the file which is just the text and images. You could then search the files and their contents using something like VS Code to search the whole directory where the files are stored. There are plenty of other ways to do that search once you have those archives, though. I think even Windows File Search will search the contents of a txt or html file stored on the device.

Shiori also has its own search, which is pretty fast, and searches the contents of the archives as well.

  • Really blew my mind a number of years ago to discover this was a cover. Turns out I like Willy Nelson. “Don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys” is another favorite of mine.

Cake’s cover of “I will survive” and “war pigs” are also fantastic. War Pigs is probably one is my favorite songs. Cake can be polarizing, but I love them.

  • I just finished chapter 6 as well and had the same takeaway.

The points he makes about the only difference between a free worker and a slave is the free worker only exchanges a portion of their labor-power is I think very important.

It exposes the goal and endgame of the buyer of labor-power. To own a persons labor-power in its totality is to own them, and by extension own the process of producing labor-power. This includes all the commodities involved in housing, subsistence, education, and medical care.

The value of labor-power is dictated currently by the collective actions of the proletariat in the commody market. However it you had full control over a persons labor-power, you can control what kind of housing, food, medical care, and education they get.

In the absence of totally owning their labor-power, capitalists attempted to instead attack this problem externally by owning the towns the workers lived in. This is WHY company towns existed, becuase slavery was generally outlawed.

Its why we have for profit prison systems. They are effectively the peak of capitalist external intervention in the process of owning labor-power in its totality.

At its core the struggle has always been pure freedom against pure slavery.
