  • You can share or not share an emotion regardless of whether it’s been processed or not. There are people who never bother anyone with their problems because they are so chronically dysregulated that they’re just used to it and internalize their bodily experiences, including emotions. There are also people who are excellent at self-regulation but lean on partners because it’s a way of sharing yourself with them. Like, they self-regulate and share a processed version of that feeling. It’s also kind of a balancing act. The point isn’t to say coregulation is for children only and you’re bad if you’re doing it as an adult. It’s more like if that’s the only tool in your toolbox, something has gone wrong.
